This page sets out what you need to know before booking the Lean Business Simulation. If anything here is unclear, please contact us before you book.

About the day
- Format: one full day, in person in Dublin, 9am to 5pm, for up to 16 participants.
- What happens: you run a simulated business over a number of rounds, measure the results, and apply Lean principles to improve flow, quality, cost and customer experience.
- Status: the Simulation is the first step in the LeanTeams Lean Learning Pathway and part of the gateway to the QQI Level 6 Practical Lean Business Application programme (programme code PG26497). On its own, the day does not lead to a QQI award.
- Language: the day is delivered in English. You need enough English to take part in discussion and group exercises.
Who can attend
There are no prerequisites. The day suits managers, supervisors and team leads in service, operations and support roles, whether or not you have met Lean before. Mixed groups from different functions work well.
Booking
- Book through the online booking form. Please complete one form for each person attending.
- Places are confirmed in the order bookings are received, up to 16 per date.
- You’ll receive a confirmation email straight away, joining details a week before the day, and a reminder the day before.
- For a whole team, book a call about an in-company day.
Fees and payment
- Fee: the current fee is set out on the Lean Business Simulation page. Training is exempt from VAT.
- Paying by card: payment is taken securely through Stripe when you book. Stripe sends your receipt.
- Paying by purchase order or invoice: choose this option on the booking form and give your accounts payable email. If you have a purchase order number, include it; if not, we issue a sales order for approval. The invoice is payable before the day.
Using the Simulation towards further programmes
The fee you pay for the Simulation counts in full towards either of the next steps in the pathway, if you enrol within 12 months of the date you attended:
- Lean Essentials, online over eight weeks; or
- the QQI Level 6 Practical Lean Business Application programme.
The amounts payable for each are shown on the Lean Business Simulation page. You don’t attend the Simulation again. After 12 months, the full fee for the next programme applies.
Level 6 applicants
If you are applying for the QQI Level 6 programme, the Simulation is part of your gateway. Your Simulation place is booked as part of your enrolment, after your fit call, so you don’t need to book it separately. The fee, payment and cancellation terms for Level 6 applicants are set out on the Practical Lean Business Application learner information page.
Cancellation, transfer and substitution
- Cooling-off period: if you book and pay personally, you may cancel within 14 days of booking and receive a full refund. If the Simulation takes place within those 14 days and you attend, no refund applies.
- Send a colleague: you may send someone in your place, free of charge, at any time before the day.
- Change your date: free of charge up to 7 days before the day, once per booking, subject to available places.
- Cancelling 14 or more days before the day: full refund.
- Cancelling 7 to 13 days before the day: 50% refund, or a free change of date.
- Cancelling less than 7 days before, or not attending: no refund. You may still send a colleague.
- If LeanTeams cancels: a full refund or a free change of date, whichever you prefer.
- Card refunds go back to the original card within 14 days. Invoiced bookings receive a credit note.
All cancellations and changes must be made in writing, by email to stevehalpin@leanteams.com.
